		ULTRA Plastic Extruders ULTRA extruders are fixed horizontal extruders ranging from 1/2" to 12" diameter. ULTRA extruders are available with air-cooling or water-cooling. The standard ULTRA is well suited for all extrusion applications including pipe, custom profile, sheet, cast film, wire & cable, compounding, etc. A wide range of options and cost effective customization is available. They are ideally suited for: Designed for all thermoplastic resins, available in any L/D, vented or non-vented Available with standard air-cooling, Turbo air-cooling (2” and up) or water-cooling Conventional smooth feed or proven grooved feed technology. 		ULTRA R/S Rubber Silicone Extruders ULTRA R/S Rubber and Silicone extruders are fixed horizontal extruders ranging from 0.075" to 6.0" diameter. The ULTRA R/S is well suited for all extrusion applications requiring a roller feeder for strip-fed material. They may be mounted on wheels with or without track, with or without some limited height adjustment. A wide range of options and cost effective customization is available. 		AKcent Co-Extruders AKcent post mount full tilt extruders range from 0.075" to 1.75" diameter, any L/D. These AKcent extruders are mounted on a short post with a "T" & "Y" shaped tripod base. AKcent co-extruders are well suited for all extrusion applications including tubing, profiles, wire & cable, etc. They can have belted or direct coupled drive motors. A wide range of options and cost effective customization is available. 		AKcel Customized Extruders American Kuhne was built on a culture that embraces customization. Cost effective customization not the "we don’t want to, but we’ll do it for a price" customization that is so common in our industry. Since our inception we have developed more new and innovative extruder designs and features than any other single screw extruder supplier including well established companies that have been in business for over 100 years. AKcel extruders include vertical, angled, and extruder that move on multiple axis. They also include multiple extruders mounted on a common base, or co-extruders mounted from the ceiling (yes, we have done that too). AKcel extruders also include our proprietary Modular extruders that enable extrusion processors to quickly and easily change the barrel diameter and/or L/D in a matter of minutes. For applications that are very sensitive to contamination and/or resin changes, the ability to easily separate the screw and barrel from a machine and replace it with a clean “on-deck” module can be critical to both product purity and profitability. Second, for processors that run a wide range of product sizes and throughput, the ability to change the extruder size by quickly switching to a different diameter and/or length screw and barrel brings a previously unimagined level of processing and production scheduling versatility. 		Steward Barrier Screws Ed Steward had over 40 years of experience developing and designing Steward Barrier Screws for plastic and rubber extrusion. He built his reputation by working closely with customers to maximize the performance of barrier screws. Ed had been recognized by the Society of Plastics Engineers as a Fellow Of The Society in May 2006. He also received the Bruce Maddock Award from the Society of Plastics Engineers Extrusion Division in recognition of his contributions to single screw extrusion in May 2004. Today, American Kuhne continues Ed Steward's legacy by applying and expanding his extensive database of almost 4,000 screws sold to date. We continue to offer our free lab trials (see below for details) using our high speed data acquisition system in order to create the detailed pressure and temperature traces that enable us to optimize new screw designs for maximum performance. 		AKcess Touch Screen Controls The AKcess family of touch screen control systems consist of three levels of off-the-shelf hardware and software configured to provide a wide range of features and options for every budget. The AKcess III is a top of the line, touch screen system fully customized to your exact specifications and requirements. Because it is custom engineered, it can be modified and expanded as your needs change and technology evolves. All hardware and software is developed specifically for your application and requirements. The AKcess II system is a mid-level touch screen designed to control a complete extrusion line. It provides all of the same function as discrete controls and includes recipe storage, real time and historical process trending in a user-friendly full color touch screen package. The AKcess I touch screen control system is an affordable alternative to conventional discrete extruder controls. It provides all of the same function as discrete controls in a compact, user-friendly full color touch screen package. Limited recipe storage and real time process trending is an option. Like all American Kuhne touch screen systems, our hardware and software is non-proprietary and available off the shelf from well known industry suppliers. 		Extrusion Services & Parts (ESP) American Kuhne offers a full range of aftermarket services to repair, convert, and/or upgrade any brand of existing extruder in order to cost effectively improve its performance and your bottom line. As manager of our ESP Division, Mike Brocato has over 40 years of experience in aftermarket parts and services. He will help you determine the best way to keep your older machines producing maximum throughput and yield with today’s more demanding resins and tolerances. In addition to a wide range of customized parts and services dedicated to the extrusion aftermarket, our ESP Division offers many mechanical and electrical upgrade packages. Mechanical Upgrades include gearbox rebuilding or replacement, repair/replace drive motor. Electrical Upgrades include drive replacements, complete control panel or face plate upgrades, modular rack mount temperature control replacement, coordinated line drive packages, and AKcess I, II, and III retrofits.
